The Student Loan Forgiveness for Frontline Health Workers Act would erase student loan debts for the men and women on the front lines of this pandemic.

U.S. Rep. Carolyn Maloney, out of New York, introduced the bill that would help doctors, nurses, lab workers and other health care workers.

Marlyn Paniagua is an ICU nurse working with COVID-19 patients in the Milwaukee area. In addition to her work duties, she’s also in graduate school at Herzing University.

If this bill becomes law, she said it would be a huge relief for her family.

“It would help us breathe a little bit easier. We have a home. We have to pay a mortgage on on top of our bills, so it will help to able to continue to reach our goals,” Paniagua said.
