Student loan forgiveness for healthcare workers proposed


WASHINGTON, D.C. (WHCU) – A New York lawmaker has introduced federal legislation that would forgive the student loan debt of healthcare workers on the front lines of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Student Loan Forgiveness for Frontline Health Workers Act was introduced by Representative Carolyn Maloney. It would eliminate both private and federal student loan obligations related to medical and professional educations.

CNY Central reports eligibility would extend to nurses, doctors, and other healthcare professionals responding to the COVID-19 crisis.
